HISTORY BEL CANTO HOTEL DE VILLE

The creation of Bel Canto Hôtel de ville is largely linked to the very moving story of its first owner, Jacques de la Bussière, who lost 90% of his hearing abilities as a consequence of a serious disease. He really wanted to make a job out of his passion though and since it was music, he decided to launch the concept of musical dinners with his friend and restaurant owner Jean Paul Maurel. Bel Canto's aim is to provide a stage for young promising artists. They started looking for young opera talents, auditioning 60 singers a day. Thanks to the quality of theses waiters/singers, the success was immediate and Bel Canto Hôtel de ville now has about 100 singers and 20 piano players among its staff.

STORIES BEL CANTO HOTEL DE VILLE

A night at Bel Canto Hôtel de ville also means enjoying beautiful décors and paying attention to details. You will be able to discover opera posters on the walls of the establishment and see stage costumes on display, they were actually bought at the Opera auction: an embroidered jacket from Count Almaviva (1973), the bullfighter's costume (1959), Wilhelm Tell from 1969, Romeo coat and Juliet's dress (1956).
